Congratulations! I'm in a "students pay for the school" training and we've had maybe 4 out of 22 drop/leave/have to leave and we're on day 10 so far (37 total days I think - Mon through Fridays)
Stay focused and sleep early assuming you've got any self study or homework done. I'm in good shape and the movement patterns of climbing around trucks and especially feathering the clutch to back is all new. I'm mentally and physically tired after my days so far.

CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
We're now doing Top Gun Training at a lot of Swift schools. I'd recommend pursuing that, ask your instructors and your recruiter about it.

Pre-trip Inspection:
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

Btw found out that Swift has sections on pre trip that you have to learn and when doing the test you have to tell the tester each section and what parts is in each section?

I had the pleasure of attending Top Gun school there at the Memphis academy. Stay focused on why you are there. I found the training and equipment top notch. Spent time on the same range as those learning to obtain their CDL. As someone who went to private school I can say SWIFT is light years ahead of my experience. DO NOT let the internet BS get in your head. I would have no problem working for them, currently a Knight employee. The negativity towards “mega carriers & rookies” seems to be a favored topic around the web. Remember, everyone was a rookie at some point. Unless you fall into or born into a opportunity your first job will probably be a mega carrier. Again, stay focused, learn everything you can, be proactive. This training is the foundation you will build upon. Lacking experience training is all you’ll have to start with.
